When I received the email that said I’d been accepted to an introsem I’d been waitlisted for, I wanted to cry from surprise, relief and frustration. I already had a full class load, but I really wanted to take my introsem. After crying to and talking with a mentor, I decided to drop my math class and enroll in the introsem because I’d been made to realize that this was my chance to do what I truly wanted. I decided to take any and every class that interested me during my freshman year at the greatest university in the world.
That day I made a promise to myself: Take risks, because you owe it to yourself to be more than the expectations of others.
