Since its completion in 1903, Memorial Church, non-sectarian from the start, has been a spiritual sanctuary on campus. Originally, it included an imposing bell tower. The church was devastated during the 1906 earthquake, and when it was reconstructed shortly after, its appearance was significantly transformed. The tower was never rebuilt.
