Bicycling has been a popular method of getting around Stanford since the university’s beginnings. Today, there are about 13,000 cyclists on the Stanford campus every day. The League of American Bicyclists named Stanford a Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly University (BFU). Stanford is the only university to consistently remain on the Platinum level from when the BFU program began in 2011 until 2015, when the latest round of awards were announced.
