Stanford’s first president, David Starr Jordan, invited former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt to visit the campus in March 1911 to speak on productive scholarship in a democracy. In February 2015, President Barack Obama came to Stanford for the White House Summit on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection. He returned in June 2016 for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
