Stanford’s first president, David Starr Jordan, invited former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt to visit the campus in March 1911 to speak on productive scholarship in a democracy. Roosevelt, faculty member George Hempl and Jordan are shown walking in Memorial Court. In February 2015, President Barack Obama came to Stanford for the White House Summit on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection. He returned in June 2016 for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
